Unless you are building a specialized unicycle, I think you are better
off buying a unicycle. I have never seen a homemade standard unicycle
that I wouldn't trash in a day. I have seen some nice homemade giraffes.

Adult males should start on a standard unicycle that has cotterless
axles. Consider it a lifetime investment.
