Thanks to all who sent advice.

For the last 2 days I've been trying to put it all into practice. Silly I
suppose, but I didn't realise that I wasn't sitting with my full weight on
the saddle, as I did and tried to relax it started to both feel more
comfortable and correct the tendency to wander to the right.

Also over-inflating my tyre (a 20" wheel) from the recommended 32psi to
50psi has made a tremendous difference to turns and the ease of pedalling.

All I need now is lots of practice, this is really a great way to get
around.

BTW isn't it interesting how different onlookers react to someone on a
unicycle? In my short time I've had looks that range from admiration to
disgust. At least no-one's thrown anything at me.......yet.
