MUni FAQ

As far as I know, there is no specific FAQ for Mountain Unicycling. I
think the sport is big enough and diverse enough to generate a separate FAQ
from the standard unicycling FAQ. I am currently compiling ideas for the
FAQ, but of course, it must be a compilation of everyone's ideas.
Hopefully by generating a FAQ we can produce a list of common techniques
for MUniing and decide which technique is best for a certain situation.
For example, during the California MUni Weekend we saw two methods of
mounting on a hill - a run and jump type mount parallel to the hill and a
mount perpendicular to the hill. Discussing and describing these issues
will be beneficial to both beginning and experienced riders. Some big
issues that need to be included are defining and officially naming the
sport. I vote we call it Mountain Unicycling to play on the widely
recognized Mountain Biking title. Some other possibilities are Rough
Terrain Unicycling(RTU) or UMX. I believe UMX should be used to describe
unicycle racing on a circular track with obstacles, hills, etc. RTU is
probably the most descriptive, but I think MUni is better since Mounting
Biking is widely used and understood. There is a French association for
Mountain Unicycling that I do not know much about. Possibly they already
have a FAQ or something like it. If so, it needs to be posted and if not,
their input will be needed during the compilation of the FAQ.
I hope we can get a thread of discussion going on this!
